2007-2008 SCHOOL PROFILE

Established in 1889, Roanoke Catholic is a regional Catholic school under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, Office of Catholic Schools. A co-educational, college preparatory school located in Roanoke, VA, the student body is composed of young men and women from varied socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds who reflect the diversity of the greater Roanoke Valley.

PHILOSOPHY

Roanoke Catholic School is dedicated to excellence in education and to the spiritual development of youth within the framework of the Gospel and the tradition of the Catholic Church. Our fundamental task is the education of the whole person, blending learning with faith and faith with daily life. We strive to instill in our students a lifelong commitment to learning, to Christian values, and to community service. We are dedicated to achieving these goals in a supportive Christian community.

SCHOOL ACCREDITATION

Roanoke Catholic School, a regional school of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, is accredited by the Virginia Catholic Educational Association (VCEA) and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

On September 26, 2006, the Ctholic High School Honor Roll acknowledged Roanoke Catholic School as one of the nation's best 50 Catholic secondary schools in America for the third consecutive year.  In addition, for 2006, Roanoke Catholic School placed among the top 20 schools in the category of Academics.  Roanoke Catholic was the only Catholic school in the state of Virginia to achieve this high commendation.  See http://www.chshonor.org/for more information.
